It was a thrill to be recognized at New York Philharmonic’s annual Concert in Central Park in front of such an appreciative crowd on a beautiful summer night.
I am extremely happy for all of you coming along with me on this “trip” to Cuba. Even though I didn’t reach my full goal with the campaign this project is definitely happening. I will record in the Fall and I plan to release the new album in the Spring of 2018.
This project would not have been possible without YOUR help! I am so thankful to all of you who joined me in this campaign.
On a very exciting note, El Violin Latino just got an invitation to play in Cuba in June 2018. Isn’t that perfect?
Stay tuned for updates and details about the recording and release of El Violin Latino Vol. 3 – The Cuban Volume.

In celebration of Richie Beirach’s 70th and my 50th birthday ACT released the album Richie Beirach & Gregor Huebner Live at Birdland New York. The reviews came rolling in and we are proud of the response. Here’s a great quote.
“If you like exciting, small group jazz, played by absolute masters at the peak of their art, and if you are planning to buy only one CD this year, then make it this one. For this disc – issued to mark the 70th birthday of pianist Beirach and the 50th of violinist Huebner – is the most engaging small group recording I’ve heard in recent times.”

I am deeply honored to be the recipient of the Grand Prize for New York Philharmonic’s New World Initiative Composition Challenge for my composition “New World, Nov 9. 2016.” The contest winners will be recognized at the Concerts in the Parks on June 14, 2017.Official Announcement
I entered the composition contest to create “a work that contained or referenced themes from Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, From the New World.”
I began composing the piece the day after the presidential election in November 2016 and the influence of that historic moment is definitely reflected in the composition. It’s quite a different musical view of the New World for an immigrant in Dvorak’s time and an immigrant like myself today. References from Dvořák and Shostakovich are embedded in a musical journey throughout the rich and international cultural world of New York City.
The piece was performed by Sirius Quartet and video taped in April 2017. Sirius Quartet will be performing the composition live at Club Bonafide (212 East 52nd Street NY, NY) on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 9:30pm and on Friday, June 16 at The Garage (463 West 150th Street) at 7pm.
