Spring 2024

Gregor Huebner News

Dear Friends,

It’s springtime and April is coming. I am back in action after almost 2 months of taking time off; composing, practicing, drawing, reading, and visiting places.

Most of the time I spent in Venice, which is always very inspiring. In the last 2 weeks I visited my sister in Rome and spent another week in the Sabina mountains where I kept writing. We also went on a short trip to Ischia, our favorite island near Napoli.

At the end of February, I interrupted my isolation time for a few days. I had the chance to play Duo with one of my favorite musicians, Ray Anderson.

Of course, I found the Jazzclub Venice with Frederico and Nicola, who invited me to play every time I came by.

During the time of my composing camp in Venice our friends from Tetra Brass released a recording of Sirius Quartet and Tetra Brass featuring my composition, Henry Reloaded and Jeremy Harman’s Paths Become Lines. It’s a great sound, an amazing combination and wonderful playing. Listen to it on Bandcamp.

April and May will be very exciting months with several concerts including a tour with Berta Epple, 30 Years of Sirius Quartet at Joe’s Pub in New York, going into the studio with Shoko Nagai and Satoshi Takeshi in New York, and another trip to Dakar in Senegal for the Jazz Festival/Art Biennale.

Hope to see you soon and have a great spring!
Gregor

Since their debut at the original Knitting Factory, Sirius Quartet has been a cornerstone of NYC’s progressive and experimental music scenes for 3 decades. Featuring a veritable Who’s Who of creative string players in NYC who have been part of the lineup over the years, the quartet pays homage to the past while celebrating the present with a set of original compositions by the four current members and cameos from several past members.
