Summertime 2024 Newsletter

Summer 2024

Gregor Huebner News

Dear Friends,
Some very exciting things happened in the past few months. I had the opportunity to record as a trio with the great Shoko Nagai and Satoshi Takeishi in New York City. We are preparing for some concerts in the next season.

Watch a short video from the session.

I also had the chance to go back to Dakar/Senegal with my wife LaJuana. We stayed at the beautiful Loman Art House in Mamelles and I performed at the Stereo Africa Festival.

Sirius Quartet had an incredible 30th Anniversary Celebration at Joe’s Pub in New York City in May. Then we went on a 10-day tour of Germany in June.

Now I am getting ready for the festival season in Germany, ending up in Brooklyn at Bargemusic on Friday, August 30, 2024, with THuS, a trio featuring Dave Taylor, Daniel Schnyder and me.

I am sure most of you know my work with the great jazz pianist Richie Beirach. He is my mentor, my friend and my musical partner for over 30 years. We played the world as a duo, quartet, quintet and in the last years, even with Sirius Quartet. It’s rare you find a musical spirit like this, and we connected in the first moment we played together. It breaks my heart to see him like this. He needs our help. Please check out the crowdfunding campaign.

I wish you all a beautiful summer and hope you can enjoy the festival season as much as me.

Coming Together for the great jazz pianist Richie Beirach

Dear Friends, Admirers and Supporters of Richie Beirach,

We are reaching out to ask for your support for the renowned jazz pianist Richie Beirach, who is currently facing overwhelming health and financial problems.
Richie has touched countless lives with his music. He has been a dear mentor, friend, teacher, colleague and supporter to so many musicians and now he needs our help to make it through an excruciatingly difficult period. please donate

Sirius Quartet
composer: Mari Tamaki

RETROGRADE by Sirius Quartet is a collection of innovative string works from Mari Tamaki. Tamaki, a Japanese cellist, composer, performer, and producer, conjures up drama through intense dissonances and delicate tonal harmonies throughout. The result is elegant and dynamic, drawing on Tamaki’s classical, improvisational, and avant-garde influences. The album features works like parallel realities, an ode to a cross-dimensional world that quite possibly exists. It also includes sneak into the Q-city, named after a work by Japanese painter Iori Mamiya depicting a psychedelic journey into one’s own mind. Contrary to what its title suggests, RETROGRADE is forward-thinking and intellectually captivating. more
