Finally, culture is happening again and I am very happy to announce the release of my solo piano album with 14 original Preludes I composed during these last 2 years, Gregor Huebner – Piano Solo Preludes OP. 80.
What makes it so exciting is that I didn’t release anything on piano for over 15 years. Corona made me compose the music which helped me get through these hard times as an artist. It’s released on the prestigious classical label Solo Musica and I hope you like it.
It feels good to be on the road again and a lot of concerts are in the pipeline for the next 2 months. We will celebrate Richie Beirach’s 75th birthday, Sirius Quartet, as well as Berta Epple, are on tour again.
I am looking forward to seeing you at some of these great venues.
I am very happy to announce the release of Gregor Huebner – Piano Solo Preludes OP. 80, featuring 14 original Preludes I wrote during two years of the Covid-19 pandemic. Released on the prestigious classical label Solo Musica.
Gregor Huebner began this project without realizing that it would result in a whole collection of compositions for solo piano, which is now being recorded and published by the Munich label Solo Musica. During the extremely difficult Corona phase in New York in spring 2020, he began to practice the piano again and to compose for this instrument in order to keep himself mentally positive in this way. He would cycle from Harlem to Queens every two weeks to record one of his solo piano compositions at Spin Recording Studios with Nik Chimboukas as sound engineer – with whom he has worked for twenty years. Fung Chern, his friend and colleague from the Sirius Quartet, offered to capture these sessions on video and that was the start of Stories from the New York Lockdown.
Hopefully, you are all healthy and 2022 will bring a lot of new projects, live concerts, and positive energy.
Unfortunately, some of our concerts got canceled, such as Sirius Quartet’s concert at Carnegie Hall in January, but life goes on. Fortunately, we had 2 exciting recordings in New York with Rufus Reid and Parma Records.
February 2020 started with a concert in Munich of students playing new music. One performance featured my recent composition Changing Times.
Another exciting premiere is coming. During Corona Berta Epple got the chance to work on a new show. It’s called Berta Epple Das Ganze Jahr Geöffnet (Open All Year Round). The premiere is on February 17 and 18, 2022 at the Theaterhaus in Stuttgart, Germany. Watch the trailer for the show and grab a ticket to the premiere performance at Theaterhaus Stuttgart. 17.02.2022 : Das ganze Jahr geöffnet! 18.02.2022 : Das ganze Jahr geöffnet!
I was recently featured in the Composers Now IMPACT sessions. In the video interview I discuss my recent compositions, showcase several performances, and much more.
Each installment in this series offers a composer the opportunity to reflect on one’s creativity, influences, pathways, and responsibility as a living artist in our ever-changing world. The video features commentary and performances of my compositions.
