Thank you New York City! The 2021 Progressive Chamber Music Festival was a smashing success. The music was stunning, the venue was fabulous, and it was such an honor to be back on stage with two of my bands – El Violin Latino and Sirius Quartet.
It was an honor to present musical luminaries such as Kathleen Supové. Jennifer Choi, Mat Maneri, Craig Taborn, Randy Peterson, Curtis Stewart, Leonor Falcón, Juanma Trujillo and Billy Martin.
The Progressive Chamber Music Festival will be in MUNICH at Club Milla on November 10 & 11, 2021. We’ve got some wonderful musicians lined up.
This Thursday, November 4 join me online for Composers Now IMPACT. I’ll be discussing my compositions and much more. It starts at 12 Noon ET, it’s interactive and it’s FREE.
Regards,
Gregor

Composers Now announces IMPACT. Each installment in this series offers a composer the opportunity to reflect on one’s creativity, influences, pathways, and responsibility as a living artist in our ever-changing world. Designed for the virtual space, every session shares a composer’s essential thoughts directly with you, the audience, in the safety and comfort of your own place.
These commentaries, interwoven with performance videos and other materials, articulate a creator’s IMPACT.
A lot of things happened in the last almost 2 years and here are some samples and products of my creative work during this, for us artists, a difficult time:
Pelikula is a project together with the great film composer Gerd Baumann. It took us several years to create this wonderful recording and I am very proud about the final outcome.
During the cultural break I took part as a violinist in the movie Rotzbub which will be in theaters this winter and as a composer and musician in and for the documentary Der Fall El Masri which is still available on arte TV.
I was privileged to get some great commissions in the last 2 years which kept me writing, focused and sane.

Two dear friends passed away during Covid, and I want to remember their musical genius; George Mraz, Jazz Bassist and Tango master Raúl Jaurena.
It was a great honor to work with them. They will be greatly missed, but their music endures.
George Mraz, Consummate Jazz Bassist, Dies at 77
For half a century, he was in constant demand, backing big names like Oscar Peterson as well as countless up-and-coming performers.
These photos were taken at one of our last concerts with Beirach Huebner Mraz in 2014.
Greetings! I wish you all a wonderful time during the holidays and a fantastic New Year leading into a much better 2021.
Here is a video I recorded with the great brass quartet Tetra Brass in Munich a couple weeks ago and it’s the perfect music to bring this year to an end. It’s based on Bach’s choral “Es ist genug – It is enough.”
Here are some excerpts from the original text which pretty much describe the artists and many other people’s situation during this difficult time. I hope this gives everybody some hope. There is still music and creativity in this world.
Wie lang, wie lange muß ich sehnen? Wann ists genug?
How long, how long must I yearn? When is it enough?
In the New Year I am really looking forward to releasing “Pelicula” with my friend and colleague Gerd Baumann in Munich. We worked on this one for years and I am very excited about it. The album will be out in February/March on vinyl and as a digital download.
I am sure there are concerts coming again and there are many scheduled in 2021, but since all these dates in the first half of 2021 are uncertain, I will post them when we know for certain that they will happen in a new newsletter and on social media.
With Berta Epple we are doing an cultural advent calendar on Wednesday, December 23 at 19:00 German Time and 1pm EST. We will have an interview and show some great videos of music from our latest program and the Christmas program we have.
Once more, Happy Holidays and I see you hopefully soon in some live concert again,
Gregor
